Welcome to
Teach Kids Poetry
Hi, I'm Mike Jubb, children's poet and Writer in Education. I visit primary schools to enthuse, to entertain, and to show children and their teachers how easy it is to write poems that they can all be proud of.
Politicians fret about Levels. Educators think beyond any imposed curriculum. Poetry, for example, isn't a 'subject' that fits into a block of time. Poetry, in all its diversity, is for life... hopefully to be sampled and savoured in small bites, frequently.
'Teaching' children how to write poetry is simply to show them what is possible, and then letting them run with it. And run with it they do... especially once they see that poetry is a much 'wider' genre than they realised, and that the only rules are the ones that you choose to impose on yourself. That's literary freedom!
The resources here are free for non-profit making purposes. The aim is to give you and your children success. So, please explore, enjoy... and succeed.
If you find any errors, typos or wonky links... please let me know.
Suggestions (be nice!) and constructive criticisms are always welcome.
