A primary school resource by Mike Jubb

Welcome to
Teach Kids Poetry

Hi, I'm Mike Jubb. I call myself a poet and Writer in Education, meaning that I visit primary schools to inspire, to enthuse and to entertain children, and also to show them and their teachers how easy it is to get results that they can be proud of.

Whilst politicians gaze at levels and tables, Educators think beyond any imposed curriculum. Poetry, for example, isn't a mere 'subject' to be fitted into a block of time before moving on to the next thing. Poetry, in all its diversity, is for life... hopefully to be sampled and savoured in small bites, frequently.

'Teaching' children how to write poetry is simply to show them what is possible, and then letting them run with it. And run with it they do, especially once they understand that poetry is a much 'wider' genre than they might have realised, and that the only rules are the ones that you choose to impose on yourself. That's literary freedom!

If you can tolerate a few chosen book adverts, the resources here are freely available for strictly non-profit making purposes. The aim is to give you and your children success. So, please explore, enjoy... and succeed.

If you find any errors, typos or wonky links... please let me know. Suggestions (be nice!) and constructive criticisms are always welcome.
